Today’s Image of the Day comes thanks to the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at the Makran Coast of Pakistan and the Arabian Sea.

This image was captured by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on board the Landsat 8 satellite.

“Rivers in arid and semiarid areas tend to carry lots of sediment when it rains heavily because there is no vegetation,” said Peter Clift, a professor at Louisiana State University. “It looks like the sediment is being pushed along the coast by eastward flowing longshore currents, which are typical along this coast.”
