A massive chunk of the Larsen C ice shelf begins breaking apart in this Image of the Day captured by the NASA Earth Observatory. As we reported, a massive chunk of the Larsen C ice shelf broke off in early July, creating a massive iceberg named A-68. Now, the iceberg has broken into two smaller bergs, named A-68A and A-68B. The break occurred after the berg slammed into ice floating above Gipps Ice Rise.
