Lingering sea ice on the Hudson Bay • Earth.com

Today’s Image of the Day comes thanks to the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at sea ice on the Hudson Bay.

This image was captured on June 29, 2017 by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) onboard NASA’s Aqua satellite.

During the wintertime, the Hudson Bay freezes over completely. Most of this ice usually has thawed by the end of July, but some smaller pieces accumulate thanks to winds and currents.
