Egg Island in the Bahamas

03-31-2018

Today’s Video of the Day comes from the European Space Agency’s Earth from Space series and features a look at Egg Island in the Bahamas.

Egg Island is uninhabited by humans and only measures about 8,600 square feet in size. The island gets is name from the sea bird eggs that were collected there by early settlers.

This image was captured by the Copernicus Sentinel-2B satellite mission and highlights the stark contrast between the shallow light blue waters to the southwest and the deeper dark blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean to the northeast.
