Smaller critters • Smaller critters

The bigger animals like moose and bison are obviously eye-catching, but the Yellowstone ecosystem would fail if not for all the smaller creatures scuttling around. Rodents such as beavers and squirrels live in Yellowstone, and of course they also act as food for some larger predators. Naturally there are creatures belonging to the Lagomorpha order of animals, too, including rabbits and hares. Photo credit: Steve/Flickr | CC BY-SA 2.0
