Peak of fall colors in Ottawa • Earth.com

Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory features the peak of fall colors in and around Ottawa, Canada.

Hundreds of thousands of visitors flock to the Ottawa area each year for the “Fall Rhapsody.” In Gatineau Park, located west of downtown Ottawa, the sugar maple and hickory trees produce vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and red.

The capital city of Ottawa is located at the confluence of three major waterways: the Ottawa River, the Gatineau River, and Rideau Canal.
