Tijuana and the U.S.-Mexico border • Earth.com

Today’s Image of the Day comes thanks to the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at the city of Tijuana on the U.S.-Mexico border.

This image was captured by an astronaut on board the International Space Station, 250 miles from Earth’s surface.

Tijuana is located in Baja California about 12 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. It has a population of roughly 1.7 million and is one of the fastest growing cities in Mexico.

The city is also known for its rough topography, which includes many canyons and steep hills.
